About Us

History, Development and Identity of The Practice

Castle Street Medical Centre first opened its doors on 1st June 1984, and has developed and continued to grow. The practice is currently responsible for the health care of just over 3,400 patients, and is accountable to Derby and Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group.

The practice serves Bolsover and the surrounding local villages, including: Carr Vale, Duckmanton, Hillstown, Palterton and Scarcliffe.

On the 1st July 2016, after a successful joint partnership, the practice became part of Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust (DCHS).

Practice Premises

The practice operates from single storey purpose built premises in 1987. The building was comprehensively re-fitted and upgraded in 2018.

The practice is sited on a former Presbyterian chapel and is built from the original stone. One half of the front and side is still a consecrated grave yard.
